Mary Edith Wootton Haynes died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at the Carmel Home, surrounded by her loving family. Edith was born Aug. 31, 1915, in St. Lawrence to the late William and Ada Wootton. Mary Edith was an active member of St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville before entering the Carmel Home with her husband, Dan. Her family will always remember her as a wonderful wife, loving mother and grandmother devoted to her large family. Preceding Edith Haynes in death was her husband, James Daniel; daughter Agnes Ann Haynes; grandchildren Sharon Oelze and Robbie Haynes; a stepgrandson, Michael Neukam; and a great-granddaughter, Amber Noelle Fish.

Survivors include her children, Danny of Owensboro, Billy (Donna) of Knottsville, Ida Mae (Gary) Howard of Pellville, Kenny (Gail) of Knottsville, Leon of Knottsville, Patsy (Danny) Oelze of Texas, John (Brenda) of Philpot, Mike (Jane) of Knottsville, Tom of Owensboro, Roger (Linda) of Owensboro, Frankie (Sandra) of Philpot, Carol (Dave) Oelze of Hardinsburg and Larry (Debbie) of Owensboro; 40 grandchildren; 17 stepgrandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services for Mary Edith Haynes will be said at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Williams Church, with burial in St. William Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. The Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
